With a new boardwalk, expanded green spaces and improved beaches, the sun and the sand is just the beginning. This week’s Keys to the City of Barrie is all about Canada’s 150th birthday and one of Barrie’s favourite events: Promenade Days! Dunlop Street is shut down to vehicle traffic, making it the best street party of the year. Apryl and Sarah checked it out!
We’re on a boat! Seriously, who wouldn’t want to be floating on Kempenfelt Bay on one of these gorgeous boats. We went to the Barrie Boat Show, the first annual, to see what people are shopping for and a peek into some amazing vessels made of wood.
This week’s Keys to City is pretty groovy. We check out the Barrie Jazz and Blues Festival that kicked off this weekend. Various artists will play in locations around downtown Barrie and surrounding areas until June 19, then the grande finale takes place on a stage at Heritage Park. In it’s 22nd year, the Festival has attracted local and out of town acts to entertain. Artists like Andy Earl evoke a feeling while he plays the blues to the crowd at Canvas and Cabernet.
